HISTORICAL PRESERVATION

HISTORY

The Red Rest and Red Roost bungalows are significant architectural cottages located directly on the Coast of La Jolla, CA. Originally built in 1894, the bungalows are now recognized today as historical treasures due to their age, prime location, and for being accredited as the earliest prototype for the "California Bungalow" style home.

RENDERINGS

PROPOSAL

"Adaptive Reuse"

Both bungalows will be reconstructed to match the original external appearance of the Red Rest and Red Roost cottages. To appease the community's desire for a kid-friendly attraction, each structure will be converted into an interactive and immersive children's exhibit. Each Exhibit will educate children and families about oceanology and geology as it relates to the La Jolla Coastline.
